CLASSES

Would you or a group of your fellow carvers like to learn the art of Chip Carving or further your skills?

Then we have a class for you to schedule in your area. Ed Allen, the President and founder of Boxes N Such is a proficient Chip Carver and teacher that would like to spread his love of the art. 

Here is what we have to offer.

CHIP CARVING I

This class is for beginners or those who want to refresh their skills. We cover all the basics and give you as much practice time as possible in class. 

Here is what you receive:

  1. Chip carving Set I (#1 or #2 chip Carving Knife, Stab Knife, Leather Strop, and 3 practice boards)

  2. 12 hours of instruction  on knives and knife maintenance, basic layout, basic cuts, geometric chip carving, free form chip carving, borders, and more)

  3. An enduring love for the art. 

CHIP CARVING II

This class takes you beyond the basics with a project to chip carve. Whether you want to improve your skills or are just looking for an excuse to get together, if you know the basics then this class is for you.

What you receive

  1. Layout Set II (Border Layout Template, 12" T-square, Mechanical Pencil, gum eraser, 12" metal flexible ruler, 45/90 triangle, 30/60 triangle, 180 degree protractor, and graphite paper

  2. An unassembled box. Probably our Combo Box which could serve as either  a 3"x5" single card recipe box or a small jewelry box, with basic patterns. ( You could substitute other Boxes N Such products such as the Tambour Clock, however if you do this pricing will be affected. We ask that no more than two different projects be worked on during the class.)

  3. 12 hours of instruction (covering layout, design, borders, chip carving technique, assembly, finishing and more.) 

Cost - $125.00 a student for either class as listed, minimum 10 students., maximum 12 students. IF a student wishes to take the class but has his own tools then the cost will be 90.00 for chip carving I. We ask that you schedule classes on Friday night (4 hours), and Saturday (8 hours). This will allow more people to attend around work schedules that otherwise could not attend a class.
